Today I am not optimistic that the kind of change that needs to take place in PUBLIC education will occur. All the talk of "reimagining" and "race to the top" is empty if our leaders are not willing to make fundamental changes in our service delivery system. I will not believe that more charters is the answer until someone demostrates that these schools are making a difference. Choice is not the same as RESULTS. My feeling is that charters are just a money grab by the private sector. When The Summit releases our points we'll see if the superintendents, school boards, associations and legislators begin to talk about fundamental change (growth). As a "doubting Thomas" I'll believe it when I see it.
