"What's the common denominator among Michigan school districts right now?
Their budget funding crisis from a $165-per-student cut built into the state education budget.
"In 30 years, I've never seen this kind of deficit in reduction at the beginning of a school year," said Superintendent Peg Stowers of Dowagiac Union Schools.
And there's a possible $127 per student additional cut that Gov. Jennifer Granholm has ordered that would be reflected in the Dec. 20 school aid payment to districts."
